Who I Am

Ilona Fried, via à la carte spirit, shares writing on this blog and in a monthly newsletter. 

I may update this policy periodically, as I add new offerings. Please re-check this page to ensure that you agree with any changes.

How this policy applies

The purpose of this Privacy Policy is to describe how I (Ilona Fried, à la carte spirit) collect and use information about you through this blog, my Facebook page (www.facebook.com/ilonalandaufried), and subscriber links, collectively referred to as the “Site”. Through the Site, Ilona Fried offers Services including signing-up for newsletters and registering for online classes and events. You can use the Site to leave comments publicly or contact me privately. Protecting your privacy is important to me. Please read this notice carefully to understand what I do or, rather, have the option to do. If you do not understand any aspects of this Privacy Policy, please contact me. If you do not agree with these terms, please exit from the Site, discontinue the use of my services, and do not provide any further information to me. 

What I collect

Data you provide

I collect and store the information you provide through the Site. This can include information that can be used to identify you (e.g., your name, business name, address details, email, website, telephone number). You provide this information to me when you:

• Contact me through a form on the Site;
• Sign-up for my newsletter;
• Send me email messages or otherwise contact me;
• Comment on a blog post;
• Donate or make a contribution;
• Participate in one of my online classes or talks (forthcoming)
• Update or change information or your account;
• Pay for an online class

If you participate in an online course or talk, I may record your image, voice, and any content you submit in the chat field, and I will request consent in real time. If you leave comments on the site, I may collect the data shown in the comments form. 

Other data

I may track the way that you interact with my emails (such as when you open an email or click on a link inside an email). I may use the information you provide for the following purposes:

• To keep your account secure and protect my Services (including to verify the identities of creators and prevent fraud and abuse);
• To enable me to provide you with my Services;
• To enable me to improve my Services;
• To enable me to better promote and target my Services;
• To create and administer your account, contact you, and customize your account; and
• To track and analyze use of the Services so that I can improve how the Site is performing

Who else might see your data?

The public: Anyone can see information you supply when commenting on publicly visible blog posts. This can include personal identifiable information such as your name and e-mail address, your website URL, as well as your Profile Picture (Gravatar). 

Others when required to protect my intellectual property and comply with the law: I reserve the right to disclose personal information when I believe that doing so is reasonably necessary to comply with the law or law enforcement or to protect my intellectual property and other legal rights.

Otherwise, I will not share your data with anyone. If, in the future, I decide to collaborate with other professionals in an online class or forum, I will conduct my marketing independently of theirs and will not share, exchange or combine mailing lists. 

What rights you have over your data

If you have left comments on my blog, you can request that they be deleted if you cannot delete them on your own. You can also delete any of your comments made on my public Facebook posts. You can also unsubscribe from my mailing list at any time and request that I erase any personal data I hold about you. This does not include any data I am obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
